Week Four, Post Three (Reflection & Questions)
This week's learning caused a lot of frustration. I realized that not only are there flaws in our local governments and court systems but that systematic racism has been something that has been enforced on a national level for centuries. It makes me realize how much more difficult it will be to challenge and change this system that our society has been fundamentally built on if it is so deeply ingrained into our everyday lives and how our communities function. It makes me feel trapped in my own hopes for the future and frustrated that nothing has been done to change it.
The one question that I have for this week is whether or not it is actually possible to change our current system effectively or if we would have to start our criminal justice system from scratch?

If you have not watched 13th, you really need to. It fits perfectly with this new leaning and explains the rise in incarcerations in the US. It is very upsetting.
