Week One, Post Three (Reflection & Questions)
My reaction to the new learning was almost shocked. I never truly understood the depths in which something as simple as word choice could affect the message and acceptance of an article or another piece of formal and informative writing. I feel as though the lecture in regards to word choice and vocabulary was one that immediately affected my writing that took place both inside and outside of the classroom, and the resources that they provided to help understand what terminology to use was something that I needed but never really knew how to look for, so I am very thankful for that tool that I can use in the future.
One question I do have is what is a specific example of word choice negatively affecting the intended message of the article, and how was it fixed? Or, rather, how did ignoring it cause even more issues? I thought that would be interesting to look into.
The formatting issue is here too. Let's work on getting that changed ASAP.
ReplyDeleteExcellent. Thanks for coming in and getting this fixed. Do you think you will be more cognizant of your word choices after this new learning? (Essays, emails, social media posts?)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. I feel as though I am already more aware of my word choice and the implications that it may have throughout my writing, no matter the format or importance.
